Pete A. Lang

President

Pete A. Lang is the founder and president of Lang Capital. His career reflects a progression through accounting, law, taxation, and investment advisory services, providing him with a multidisciplinary perspective that is uncommon within the wealth-management profession.

Pete earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from the University of South Carolina in 1984. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1987 before earning a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from New York University in 1988.

Pete began his professional career as a corporate and tax attorney with Sidley & Austin in Washington, D.C. He later became managing partner of Baity & Lang, LLP, where his practice focused on corporate transactions, taxation, business planning, real estate, and estate planning. During his legal career, Pete was licensed to practice law in Washington, D.C., North Carolina, and South Carolina, and he also held Certified Public Accountant licenses before retiring from those professions.

Following more than twenty years of legal practice, Pete shifted his professional focus to investment advisory services. Drawing upon his background in accounting, taxation, and law, he has spent the ensuing years helping affluent retirees and families evaluate complex financial decisions with greater clarity and confidence.

Throughout his career, Pete has remained committed to one guiding principle: sophisticated financial planning should be understandable. His ability to translate complex tax, legal, and investment concepts into practical guidance has become a defining characteristic of both his practice and the philosophy of Lang Capital.

Outside of his professional work, Pete has devoted significant time to land conservation and community service. His conservation efforts have included the donation of multiple conservation easements and long-standing involvement with regional land trusts, reflecting his belief that stewardship and legacy extend well beyond financial assets.

Pete enjoys spending time with his family including his wife Tracey, three children, spouses, and grandchildren. While not in the office, Pete enjoys traveling, skiing, swimming and being a member of his neighborhood shooting club.
